Stephan Johnson is a passionate business development and strategic partnerships professional with a wealth of experience in the financial services industry. He is an enthusiastic business leader with a love for scaling new initiatives, developing client relationships, and driving revenue strategies. In his current role as a Vice President for Business Development & Strategic Partnerships at Goldman Sachs, Stephan drives incremental commercial success for their consumer products.

Born in New York City, Stephan’s thirst for knowledge and passion for emerging technologies led him to leave the concrete jungle to attend college in the woods of New Hampshire. At Dartmouth College, he initially studied Computer Science. He later switched his major to Theoretical Physics with a concentration in Quantum Mechanics, which helped him to develop a highly analytical framework for problem solving. Following graduating with his Bachelor’s degree, Stephan leveraged his analytical background and passion for technology to begin his career in financial services.

Stephan started his career at the consumer financial services company Bankrate. He later transitioned to Wall Street to accept a role within Goldman Sachs’ consumer business division. At Goldman, Stephan quickly proved himself to be a valuable asset to the firm, securing and developing partnerships with leading players in the industry and driving significant revenue growth. He has since risen through the ranks at the firm, where he started as an Analyst and currently serves as a Vice President. Stephan has guided clients to success through his ability to create and execute growth strategies via partnerships. He has developed expertise in business development, marketing strategy, customer success, relationship management, corporate development, deal negotiations, and product strategy.

Beyond his professional career, Stephan is an advocate for continuous learning and has completed a Master of Science in Blockchain and Digital Currency from the University of Nicosia, as a Coinbase Scholar. Stephan is also a dedicated community leader who believes in giving back. He serves on the Firmwide Black Network Junior Board at Goldman Sachs, as a mentor for the firm’s Black Analyst and Associate Initiative, and as a coach for the company’s Reverse Mentoring Program. He is also active in mentoring and advising young professionals in the industry. He began his service with the Ron Brown Scholar Program on the Leaders Network Advisory Council, prior to joining the Advisory Board. Stephan enjoys spending time with his family, experimenting with new recipes, obstacle course racing, getting lost abroad, and live music.
