Crystal Boyd is currently developing a TV Show, “Downtown Girls,” with Warner Brothers Studios. Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Entertainment is the Executive Producer, and Crystal will be starring in the show coming to a TV screen near you. She graduated from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Drama. She’s got a PhD in Telling-the-Full-Truth from her Mama and is happy to know that there are kind people out in Hollywood. Crystal aims to rep her hometown of Washington DC, hard.

Crystal has always taken life head-on and with her chin up, despite the challenges that life may have thrown at her. From an early age, she vowed to be better than her surroundings; Crystal jumped at any opportunities that presented themselves to her, lobbying for student issues in the Annapolis legislature, singing in Prague with the Children’s Chorus of Washington, and starring in regional D.C. shows such as Ragtime and The Sound of Music.

Crystal’s strength and drive are matched by her passion for the arts and for social change. She attributes much of her activism training to City at Peace, a youth-development organization that uses the arts to create social change and promote non-violence in the Washington D.C. community. Crystal has performed at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden, lived in Ghana and taught biology and music at Shanti Bhavan, a boarding school for underprivileged children from rural communities outside of Bangalore, India.

She has her own multi-media production company, 1990 Lex Productions, that is dedicated to creating a new narrative that deconstructs modern experiences, explores relationships, and celebrates women. Crystal testifies that, “You don’t find yourself, you create yourself “. She is dedicated to serving economically underprivileged communities and systematically empowering them to become self-sustaining both economically and mentally.
