Graduating at the top of her class at Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California, Sara Whetstone also developed strong leadership skills in the community. She served as president of the Palo Alto Youth Council, a group that represents the concerns of young people to the municipal government and advises them on relevant issues During the past three summers, Sara has taught at Summerbridge, a program to help underprivileged youth attend college preparatory high schools. After school, Sara volunteered in the Pain Management Center and the Radiation Oncology Department at Stanford Hospital. These experiences, among others, fostered her interest in a career in medicine.
Sara graduated from Brown University in 2002 with a BA in Community Health. She earned her M.D. in 2008 from the Yale School of Medicine. She’s currently an MD in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of San Francisco General Hospital.
