Sadé Lawrence has accepted the fact that she was born to achieve and must share the gifts she has received.

Throughout high school, Sadé participated in countless activities and community endeavors. She has served as a Page to Georgia State Representative Randal Mangham, and as a volunteer for the Red Cross, Hands on Atlanta and Project Open Hand. She has also participated in conferences focused on HIV/AIDS in the African American community, and youth leadership and development.

Being who she is, when Tavis Smiley placed the call for tomorrow’s future leaders, Sadé responded by involving herself with the Youth 2 Leaders Conference and the National Leadership Summit Planning Committee. SEMAA – the NASA sponsored Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy – allowed Sadé to study the concept of microgravity and co-pilot a chartered plane, thus receiving the Chuck Yeager Young Eagles Award. Sadé was also a participant in the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. High School Residency Program. In the top 2% of her class, she has been recognized by Who’s Who Among American High School Students, the National Honor Roll, and the President’s Education Awards Program. She has been recognized for Academic Excellence in Latin, French, Advanced Placement U.S. History, and a myriad of other subjects. She is in the INROADS talent pool as well.

As a future business leader of America, Sadé joined the organization and serves as FBLA president at her school. Simultaneously, she serves as French Club Historian, Editor of the Stephenson High School newspaper, and is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Beta Club. As part of her commitment to excellence and supporting her community, Sadé is a mentor, a tutor, and takes time to visit the elderly. She is also a student representative on her school’s accreditation team. In the summer of her junior year, she was selected to participate in the 2003 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Minority Introduction to Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Science Program (MITE2S), which has had lasting effects on the person she is today.

According to her AP Literature teacher, “Sadé is the most cerebral student I have ever encountered in my entire career, yet she is amazingly modest about her gifts. She displays a remarkable degree of maturity and independence that buttresses her talent in clearly expressing her opinion. She is the consummate scholar and a natural born leader. She does not believe in mediocrity or complacency.”

After graduating from Georgetown University, Sadé plans to become a CPA and own a CPA firm. Ultimately she plans to give back to her community by educating minority youth on financial planning, and investing in their future and their community.

In her leisure time, she enjoys reading the works of Harlem Renaissance poet Countee Cullen, bowling, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her motto is: When you draw close to God, God draws close to you.
