Since childhood Zaria Noble has had a thirst for knowledge and a determination to push her education past expectations. Whether it was reading her sister’s medical books as a child or studying critical philosophy over the summer, Zaria has always sought new intellectual experiences.
Her love for intellectual exploration manifests itself in her dedication to events involving public speaking. In high school, she participated in the Model United Nations and Mock Trial Clubs. She also acted as the captain for her school’s Speech and Debate team throughout both her junior and senior years. As a Lincoln Douglas debater she grew a love for philosophy and the law. She spent her time reading philosophical literature and explaining her latest philosophical obsession to anyone willing to listen.
Along with extra-curricular activities involving public speaking, Zaria dedicated her time outside of the classroom to learning about those around her. She was the Secretary for Kent Denver’s Student Union for Diversity Awareness. Through this club she attended the Student Diversity Leadership Conference. She returned from the conference wanting to spread a message of diversity and inclusion to the greater community. After this she worked with other youth and school representatives to form the Students Taking Action and Making Progress conference. This conference offers middle school students the chance to engage in conversations about diversity and inclusion led by high school students. She hopes that by encouraging active leaders and community members she will inspire other to share their perspectives and knowledge in order to give back. She sees every conversation as an opportunity to share perspectives and learn from one another.
Because of the impact her mother and other mentors have had on her passion for education, service is a large part of Zaria’ life. She recognizes the importance of mentors and community. During the week she spends time volunteering for the Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists. Furthermore, she acts as the Foundation Chair for the South-Suburban Denver Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc. As the Foundation Chair she works to raise money and organize service projects. One of her favorite annual projects is hosting a science fair for the Boy and Girl Club in Denver. Not only does she get to share her love for science with these children, but she also gets to see their love for science grow as they learn more about the subject.
Zaria hopes to continue to use her advocacy and public speaking skills to serve the community that has given so much to her. She hopes to use her education as a platform to teach those around her, so that they can reach their full potential as community members. She believes that by forming a caring and educated community she can encourage a cycle of giving which will make an impact on the global scale.
